1000,000 Apps for Windows 8

Microsoft has announced that the Windows Store officially has 100,000 apps for the Windows 8 operating system. It reached the milestone about eight months after release of Windows 8. That’s an impressive feat, but the platform still has a long way to go to catch up with well-known mobile app stores. By comparison, Google Play has 700,000 apps and Apple’s App Store has more than 850,000 just for the iPhone.

Microsoft is attempting to appeal to developers by offering a better cut of the profits. Windows developers take home 80 percent of their earnings after they hit $25,000 in revenue, while most app stores play a flat 70 percent. The Windows Store also gives developers a variety of programming language options, including JavaScript, C#, Visual Basic, or C++.
