Openspace: The First Real-World App Store

The start-up offers consumers advice on which apps to purchase.

There's nothing new about an established brand with a physical presence opening an online app store, but for the first time an online app store is opening up a brick-and-mortar physical store. Startup Openspace has set up a storefront in Boulder, Colo., that offers device owners advice on which apps to purchase. In their words, they try to eliminate “app-rehension.”

“If your iPhone has a problem, you take it to Apple. If your Android tablet has a problem, you take it to Verizon, AT&T or Best Buy,” said Openspace founder Robert Reich. “But if you have a question about which camera app would be great for taking pictures this weekend on the slopes, where can you turn?”

The company also operates a website that offers app recommendations.
