For the second time ever, Amazon has broken out quarterly financial figures for its Amazon Web Services unit, and they are impressive. The cloud computing business brought in $1.824 billion in the most recent quarter, a substantial improvement from last quarter's $1.566 billion and an 81 percent increase year-over-year. International business now accounts for 8 percent of AWS revenue.
Overall, Amazon reported earnings of 19 cents per share on revenue of $23.2 billion, surpassing Wall Street estimates. That sparked an increase in Amazon's share price, bringing its market value above $250 billion. Amazon's market value now surpasses Walmart's for the first time in history.
