Git Releases 2.1 Update

The minor release makes some pretty major changes.

Git released its last major update, the 2.0 release, in June 2014. Now just a couple of short months later, the version control system has pushed out an incremental release with several improvements, as well as various bug fixes. New features in Git 2.1 include the following:

  • Better bash completion
  • Decorated log "auto" option
  • Support for vimdiff3 for merging
  • Support for full pathname output in git-grep
  • Tags ordering
