China's iOS and Android markets are growing by more than 400 percent per year.

A new report from Flurry compares iOS and Android adoption rates country by country. Currently, the U.S. has more iOS and Android devices than any other nation--165 million in all. However, China is in second place with 128 million devices, and China's smartphone market is growing the fastest of any country. In fact, between July 2011 and July 2012 the China's total iOS and Android devices increased 401 percent. At that rate, China will overtake the U.S. by the end of this year.

Other interesting data from the report includes the following:

    1. The five countries with the most iOS and Android devices in use are the U.S. (165 million), China (128 million), the U.K. (31 million), S. Korea (28 million) and Japan (22 million).
    2. The five fastest-growing iOS and Android markets are China (401 percent), Chile (279 percent), Brazil (220 percent), Argentina (217 percent) and Iran (196 percent).
    3. The five countries with the highest iOS and Android penetration among adults ages 15-64 are Singapore (92 percent), Hong Kong (87 percent), Sweden (86 percent), Australia (79 percent) and the U.S. (78 percent).
