Salesforce Rolls Out App Cloud

Salesforce has announced App Cloud, a new offering that it says is the next generation of its Salesforce 1 Platform. App Cloud includes the Heroku Enterprise cloud development platform, the Force platform, the Lightning development platform and the Trailhead interactive learning environment for developers.

Built on the Heroku platform as a service (PaaS), Heroku Enterprise gives enterprises a Private Spaces feature that provides a secure place for enterprise application development teams to build and test apps. Lightning, which is popular with mobile development teams, allows developers to assemble apps by dragging and dropping pre-built components.

IDC analyst Al Hilwa said, “At heart [of App Cloud] is Salesforce integrating Heroku more deeply with their traditional model-driven application platform, Force.com.”
