Windows 8.1 Update Could Arrive in April

Rumors suggest the OS's release has been pushed back from March.

Application Security Testing: An Integral Part of DevOps

ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley writes that unnamed sources have told her Microsoft changed the planned shipment date for Windows 8.1 Update 1 from March to April. In addition to bug fixes, the release includes a number of features that make it easier to use the OS with a mouse. Among those new features is a boot-to-desktop option that may be the default on new PCs that don't have touchscreens.

PC makers probably won't have to wait as long as everyone else for the release. The sources added that manufacturers will likely still get the update in March so they can begin preloading it on the systems they sell.
