Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, as the name implies, is designed to help manage all of the information in a large enterprise. That leaves small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) to find point solutions or hosted applications to help manage their business.
Point solutions usually work well for the applications they are built to handle, but trying to integrate point solutions so they work together often requires technical expertise and software development work beyond the capabilities of most SMBs. Hosted solutions can help SMBs save money on IT infrastructure and licensing fees, but hosted applications aren't customized for an organization's specific business processes.
Small businesses can take advantage of Salesforce.com for many of their customer relationship management (CRM) needs, for example, but customization requires a developer who is familiar with the Apex Code used by the Force.com platform.
IntelliTek Systems creates business applications that take the best of hosted and point solutions. The company creates hosted applications that manage accounting, CRM, customer service, content management, marketing, and sales for SMBs. Unlike most hosted applications, however, IntelliTek Systems customizes its applications to fit its individual customers' needs.
"We customize every solution we deliver," said Matthew May, President and Chief Project Manager of IntelliTek Systems. "We do a full-blown needs analysis at the onset of every project."
IntelliTek Systems is adding to its portfolio of Web-based applications in March with the launch of SocialBiz by IntelliTek, which will add a number of social functions to IntelliTek's existing applications.
The SocialBiz features will include video chat and forums, as well as integration with Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. May expects most customers will use the social capabilities for customer service and business intelligence. SocialBiz is the company's response to clients' calls for more robust, Web-based support capabilities. IntelliTek Systems offers standard CRM capabilities to clients, many of which previously turned to third party chat applications to make them more robust.
The integration with the Web's most popular social networks will also help clients manage their brands online. For May, SocialBiz by IntelliTek is another application that will make it easier for small businesses to run their business without a lot of additional costs, infrastructure, and software.
"It's definitely a competitive differentiator," May said.
SocialBiz by IntelliTek joins the company's existing application portfolio. "For businesses with five to 250 employees, our applications run the full gamut for CRM, financials, sales, and Web and content management," May said.
The IntelliTek Financial Suite is centered on General Ledger by IntelliTek, which can easily manage and process financial journals, enforce accounting standards, and maintain advanced reporting.
Service Dashboard by IntelliTek works with the CaseManager and HelpDesk applications to provide real-time access to data for SMB's customer service needs. They allow customer service personnel to create customizable home pages, graphical dashboards, and key metrics to increase visibility into customer service.
IntelliTek Systems also offers applications for content management and Web management, including digital asset management, document management, records management, Web workflow tools, and multiple Web site management.
IntelliTek Systems creates marketing solutions that automate the entire marketing process, evaluate return on investment (ROI), and help marketers create continuous improvements in campaign performance. Marketing managers can use the tools to plan, manage, execute, analyze, and maximize returns on all customer-centric marketing activities.
For the sales team, IntelliTek Systems creates applications for forecasting, managing leads, quote management, and sales analytics.
All of IntelliTek Systems' products are built on a Java platform. Pricing for the applications is based on the number of modules a client is using, the amount o customization required, an implementation fee, and foreseeable maintenance.
