Fujitsu, Intel Announce Plans for Joint IoT Effort

Under the terms of a new partnership agreement, Fujitsu and Intel plan to offer an Internet of Things (IoT) platform that combines Fujitsu’s distributed service technology with Intel’s IoT technology. The two companies will initially offers solutions for manufacturing, retail and the public sector. To show how the technology will work, they have created a proof-of-business at the Shimane Fujitsu factory in Japan.

Both Fujitsu and Intel are becoming heavily involved in IoT projects. Fujitsu announced a partnership with Microsoft last month and launched a cloud development platform for IoT last November. Intel launched its IoT Platform in December 2014 and has partnered with Cloudera, Dell, IBM, SAP, Accenture and other companies on IoT projects.
