IBM Adds Authentication Service to Bluemix Cloud Development Platform

IBM has added a new authentication service called Identity Mixer to its Bluemix cloud development platform. Developers can use the tool to authenticate users for apps or online services, and it will encrypt and store all user data on IBM’s cloud so that developers don’t have to worry about that aspect of privacy and security.

In addition, Identity Mixer stores user personal information centrally so that it can be accessed by multiple apps or services from different developers. For end users that represents increased security because their data is stored in fewer locations.

Identity Mixer first became available on a limited basis in January, but it is now generally available.
