The Linaro Developer Cloud has finally gone live after first being announced in March. The cloud computing service gives developers free access to bare-metal ARM-based servers running Linux. However, in order to gain access Linaro Developer Cloud, interested users must first complete an application process.
In recent years, enterprise application development teams have shown increasing interest in creating applications for ARM-based servers, but many organizations have been slow to test or deploy ARM-based servers because of their existing investments in x86 infrastructure. The Linaro project, which is sponsored by a group of vendors creating hardware and software for ARM-based servers, gives developers a way to test the new architecture without a large commitment.
