Report: Windows XP’s Market Share Drops Only 1% in August

According to a new report from Net Applications, the worldwide market share for Windows XP dropped less than one percent last month?from 24.82 percent in July to 23.89 percent in August. If this replacement rate continues, Windows XP will still be running on systems for two more years, even though Microsoft officially ended support last August.

Reports indicate that less than 10 percent of enterprise PCs are still on Windows XP, but the lack of willingness to embrace Windows 8 continues to be a problem for Microsoft. Industry watchers say this latest news puts the company under even more pressure to get things right with Windows 9.
