According to a new report from SNS Research, sales of big data hardware, software and services will likely top $46 billion this year and grow to more than $72 billion by 2020. The firm also says that over the next four years, the market will shift from being hardware-dominated to being software-dominated.
The report attributes the growth in big data spending to a variety of factors. “Amid the proliferation of real time data from sources such as mobile devices, web, social media, sensors, log files and transactional applications, Big Data has found a host of vertical market applications, ranging from fraud detection to scientific R&D,” it said.
