Windows Blue to Appear at BUILD Development Conference

For some time, rumors have been swirling concerning Microsoft’s next update to Windows, codenamed Blue, but Microsoft itself has said little. That may be about to change.

The Verge’s Tom Warren is reporting, “Microsoft is gearing up to release its first public preview version of Windows Blue at its Build developer conference in late June. Sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans have revealed that the company started work on a ‘milestone preview’ version of Windows Blue earlier this month.”

A blog post by Microsoft’s Frank X. Shaw also acknowledged the existence of Blue. “With a remarkable foundation of products in market and a clear view of how we will evolve the company, product leaders across Microsoft are working together on plans to advance our devices and services, a set of plans referred to internally as ‘Blue,'” Shaw wrote. However, he cautioned that the final product would likely not be called Blue.
