Amazon Web Services Revenue Continues to Climb

In its financial reports, Amazon doesn’t break out the sales from its cloud computing division, Amazon Web Services; instead, it lumps revenues into the “other sales” category, making it difficult for analysts to figure out just how much money the company is making in the cloud. However, in its most recent quarter, Amazon’s “other” sales were up sharply, leading many to conclude that the cloud business is booming.

Amazon’s other sales totaled $960 million for the quarter ending September 30, 2013. That marks a 14 percent increase from last quarter and a 58 percent increase over last year.

Researchers with Technology Business Research believe 84 percent of Amazon’s other sales come from AWS and that the division’s revenue increased 136 percent year-over-year.
