Eclipse Updates IoT Tools

The Eclipse Foundation, which is best known for its open source Java IDE, has announced that it has updated four of its Internet of Things (IoT) tools. The updates include Eclipse Kura 2.0 (a framework for building IoT gateways), Eclipse Paho 1.2 (for creating client-based implementations of the MQTT and MQTT-SN messaging protocols), Eclipse SmartHome 0.8 (a framework for smart home solutions) and Eclipse OM2M 1.0 (an implementation of the oneM2M standard).

The Eclipse Internet of Things Working Group also launched a new project called Eclipse Kapua, which is focused on creating “a modular integration platform for IoT devices and smart sensors, that aims to bridge operation technology with information technology.”

The Eclipse IoT Working Group includes 30 member companies and 200 active contributors.
