Google has launched a new cloud storage service called Coldline. As the name suggests, this service is for “cold” or archival data. Accordingly, it has a very small price tag: just $0.007 per gigabyte per month and $0.05 per gigabyte retrieved.
The cloud computing service is also rebranding some of its other storage offerings. The former Standard service is now called Multi-Regional, and it also added a lower tier of the same service that it calls Regional. Google is doing away with its Durable Reduced Availability (DRA) storage for new customers although it will continue offering the service for existing customers.
