Microsoft has released a Windows 10 Technical Preview that can run on some Lumia smartphones. “This is the earliest publicly available preview we’ve ever done for Windows on phones,” blogged Microsoft’s Gabe Aul. “This preview is still very much under development and you’re going to see some rough edges.”
For the next release of its flagship operating system, Microsoft is uniting its desktop and mobile versions of Windows. That will enable developers to write apps once for all Windows devices. Key improvements in the Windows 10 Technical Preview for smartphones include full-size background images on the Start screen, interactive notifications, a new Photos app and better speech-to-text capabilities.
