More Details about the Windows 10 Rollout

Microsoft had previously said that it would begin rolling out Windows 10 on July 29, and now it is revealing more details about that rollout plan. The five million people who signed up for the Windows Insiders plan will get access to the new OS on July 29. People who have recently purchased Windows 8.1 devices will be able to upgrade after Microsoft provides the Release-to-Manufacturing (RTM) build to OEMs; the company hasn’t set a date for RTM, but says it will be soon. Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education will become available for download from the Volume Licensing Center on August 1.

After that Windows 10 will be made available to existing Windows 7 or 8 users in waves after the company determines that their systems are compatible with the new OS. According to Microsoft, it is finding “full compatibility today with the vast majority of Windows 8x and Windows 7x systems.”
