Software Developer Files Age Discrimination Case Against Google

A Florida-based software developer named Robert Heath has filed a federal age-discrimination case against Google. He says that in 2011 a Google recruiter called him a “great candidate” for a job at the firm, but the company did not hire him for the position because he was 60 years old. Based on data from PayScale.com, the lawsuit claims that the median age of Google employees is 29 years old, while the median age for software developers in the country is 40.6 years old.

Heath’s lawyers are seeking other people over the age of 40 who applied at Google but who were not hired to participate in a class action lawsuit.

Google told one news outlet that the case is meritless.
