Creating a business context in WebSphere Commerce

This tutorial shows how to add your own customized business context to the WebSphere® Commerce business context service.

Objectives

  • Create a history context in WebSphere Commerce V6.0.

  • Use the history context in your code to evaluate customer segments using your site.

Prerequisites

Register now or sign in using your IBM ID and password.

This tutorial is intended for software developers with some Java™, JSTL, and HTML knowledge.

To complete this tutorial, you should be familiar with the following terms and concepts:

  • WebSphere Commerce business context service.
  • Sessions and cookies.
  • Publishing a store archive.
  • Storefront customization.
  • Java customization using Rational® Application Developer.


System requirements

Before beginning this tutorial, ensure that:

  1. You are using the WebSphere Commerce V6.0 development environment.
  2. You have a WebSphere Commerce V6.0 ConsumerDirect store published using either a DB2® or Cloudscape® database.



Duration

This tutorial takes about two hours to complete.
