Verizon Ventures, the venture capital arm of Verizon, has announced that it will invest in the CloudBees platform as a service (PaaS). The two companies had a previous relationship as Verizon recently announced that the Java-centric cloud development service would be part of the Verizon Cloud.
Altogether, CloudBees raised $11.2 million in a Series C round of funding. Other VCs investing in the PaaS in this round included Blue Cloud Ventures, Matrix Partners and LightSpeed Venture Partners.
CloudBees is positioning itself as an “enterprise-class” alternative to Amazon’s cloud computing services.
