Meta Tag Structure

<meta http-equiv="server command" content="data">

The meta tag is more open-ended than any of the other HTML tags. The tag <meta> tells the browser that the contents of the tag are particular type of data, but you have some flexibility in defining exactly what the data is.

Meta tags have two attributes:

  • The first names the meta tag.
  • The second defines the data or content of the tag.

This is what a couple of typical meta tags look like:

<meta name="keywords" content="iguana feeding reptiles lizards breeding">
