Meta Tags for Storing Data

<meta name="name of data" content="data">

If you are using the meta tag to store data (like keywords to be used by a search spider) the tag will have two attributes, name and content.



NAME

The first attribute is name. It assigns a name to the meta tag. Several names are commonly recognized. Two of the most common are "description" and "keywords".

CONTENT

The second attribute is content. The value of this attribute contains the actual data, such as a textual description or a series of keywords.

This meta tag stores a set of keywords for the page:

<meta name="keywords" content="iguana, feeding, reptiles, lizards, breeding">
