Count The Rows In A Table Before Selecting Those Rows

This technique easily helps you avoid an Object not Set error, and saves time by not sending unnecessary queries:
 Sub Form1_Load ()
	Dim db As database
	Dim ds As snapshot
	Dim iNum As Integer

	Set db = OpenDatabase("c:\vb\biblio.mdb")
	Set ds = db.CreateSnapshot("Select Count (*) _
		from Authors Where AU_ID > 10")
	iNum = ds(0)
MsgBox "The number is " + Str$(iNum)
End Sub
