Cure VID 6's "No Such Interface Supported" Error

Some users have spent frustrating hours trying to add a data connection to a Visual InterDev 6 project but only get the error, "No such interface supported." This is often a sign that something has gone wrong in the Registry. Reinstallation alone may not fix it. Here's a solution that works for some users. This technique involves editing the Registry, so heed the usual warning about making a backup.

  1. Uninstall Visual InterDev 6.
  2. Delete the Registry entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio
  3. Delete the Registry entries under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio
  4. Reinstall VID and Visual Studio Service Pack 3.
