A Shorthand for Internationalization

The software industry uses the term "I18N" as an abbreviation for the term internationalization. The idea is that I18N begins with an i, ends with an n, and has 18 characters in between. This way, one avoids the unwieldy term and its different spelling conventions (internationalisation in British English). Likewise, the term localization is abbreviated to L10N. When you're searching the online help or the Web for information on this subject, use these abbreviations.
