Errors Using Microsoft Word 6.0

Question:
When I edit my .RTF file in Microsoft Word 6.0, the help compiler gives me an error saying "This application has violated system integrity due to an invalid fault and will be terminated." How can I get around this?

Answer:
Microsoft has identified this as a known bug in the help compiler that was distributed with Visual Basic 3.0 Professional. It has to do specifically with the format in which Word 6.0 saves its RTF files. The fix for this is to download the newest version of the help compiler files from Microsoft's ftp site (ftp://ftp.microsoft.com) or from their download service at (206) 936-6735 if the FTP site is busy, which it normally is. Just replace your current help compiler files with the newer ones, and Word 6.0 will work correctly with the help compiler.
