Using Hidden Fields to Pass Data

Question:
In HTML, I am using the FORM Tags to capture input and SUBMIT to a CGI Program. The server program captures all INPUT Tags and their VALUE. I want to pass a TEXT Field with data that the User never sees. Is there an attribute to indicate that the INPUT Text Field is not visible but is filled in with a default. If this is not possible, is there another means to my desired end.

Answer:
Take a look at the source of any of the forms at Ask the ActiveX Pro or Ask the VB Pro. I use hidden fields extensively and all of the forms have hidden fields. Here is an example of a hidden field with a default value:

This sends along where the e-mail should go from the form that you fill out.
