How to do large scalar math

Question:
How can one do 64-bit or larger math calculations in C++? Do you know of a free class or class library that supports large scalar math?

Answer:
There are classes included in the GNU G++ distribution for handling very large numbers. They have an Integer class and a class for Rational numbers, among other things. If you are not using the GNU G++ compiler, these libraries should still port to other compilers with some effort. .
