Creating an Editor Like MS Notepad

Question:
I am working on a project where I am supposed to create a Microsoft notepad-like program. Do you have any tips on how I should go about creating it?

Answer:
Building an editor is actually pretty simple. You just have to know what components you're likely to need. You'll probably want to build your program around the TRichEdit control which will let you save your files as RTF files that can be read by Word or other Windows word processing programs, and still retain the formatting.

Other than that, you can use buttons or menu choices to affect various styles (bold, italic, underline, etc.) that manipulate the properties of the TRichEdit control.

For starters, you should look at the demo text editor that is included with Delphi and use it as a starting point.
