ADO Data Control

Question:
I hope that you might be able to help me with the problem I am experiencing. I am developing an application in VB6 using ADO Data Control. I need to set the EditMode Recordset property, which is read only, to EditInProgress. This is normally done by .Edit method, but the ADO Recordset is missing this method and none of the others available seem to do the trick. How can I set EditMode to EditInProgres?

Answer:
When you say that you use the .Edit method to place a recordset in edit mode, I think you are referring to DAO. The ADO objects have been simplified so that the Edit method is not needed. By changing a value you automatically place the recordset in edit mode.

The trick now is that you must have an updatable recordset in order to change a value. For this, several variables need to be set on the recordset. CursorType can not be Forward only and LockType can not be read only.
