Convert Informix File to Text File

Question:
How do I convert Informix data under Unix to a text file?

Answer:
You can do this by using a SQL UNLOAD command:

UNLOAD to textfilename.unl SELECT * from tablename
This will create a file called "textfilename.unl" that contains the ascii contents of the "tablename" table, with the UNIX pipe symbol "|" separating the fields.
