Eliminate Log Messages on the Console in JDK 1.4

If you've ever used the built-in logging facilities introduced in JDK 1.4, you've certainly faced a situation wherein you wanted to prevent log messages from appearing on the console. The quickest way to accomplish this is to change the logger settings in J2SE installation directory:
  1. Locate file <J2SE_INSTALL_DIR>\jre\lib\logging.properties.
  2. Find the following configuration parameter:

    java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.level = INFO

  3. Replace it with the following string:

    java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.level = OFF
