Informix ODBC Visual InterDev Hangs
by DevX Pro
If I try to open an Informix table in Microsoft Visual InterDev, which uses SCO Vision Ultralite ODBC driver on an NT4/SP4 IIS4 Web server, Visual InterDev hangs. Using a Microsoft Access front end with the same driver works okay.

I'm curious if you or anyone else has successfully created a data warehouse in SQL Server 7.0, using DTS to import/extract info from Informix, running Elite time/billing application?
Using Variables in SQL
by DevX Pro
I have connected a form to the DB using an ADODC. I connect fine, I can read the DB if I put a literal in my sql: recordsource = select * from table1 where employeenum = 108 But, I want to use the value that is stored in the employee text box. recordsource = select * from table1 where employeenum = form2.candidatenum.text I get the message, "No value given for one of more required parameters".
Informix ODBC Drivers 3.31
by DevX Pro
I am currently running Informix Dynamic Server 2000 version 9.20 TC1 on an NT server, Service Pack 6a. I have existing Visual Basic 5 applications that are using ADO 2.1 to connect to the Informix Database using the new Informix 3.31 ODBC drivers. When the VB applications try to update a table, I get the following error message: Error 3251. The operation requested by the application is not supported by the provider. ADODB.Recordset in updaterow. The updates work just fine if I use the Informix 3.11 ODBC driver. The suggestions that Informix tech support provided me were no help on this issue. Do you have any suggestions?

Get the list of ODBC drivers
by Francesco Balena
The ODBCTOOL.DLL library contains three functions that make it easier to manage DSNs. To run the following code you must add a reference to the "ODBC Driver & Data Source Name Functions" library to your References dialog box. If you don't find this library listed in the References list, use the ...

Building SQL Strings Dynamically
by DevX Pro
What is the correct format to create a SQL string using embedded variables? I keep getting a message that says I have an "incomplete query clause". I am trying to create a function that will pull data out of a text box and use it to build a where clause in a SQL string.
VB and Oracle: Use ADO or ODBC?
by DevX Pro
What's the consensus as to whether it is better to use the ADO native driver, or use the ADO ODBC wrapper with Oracle?
Max users
by DevX Pro
I have 20 user licenses. During some activities, users are being logged in two or three times. Thus I can hit a max user limit with only 9 actual users. Any suggestions on what to look for to minimize this? We are running SQL Server 6.5 and 7.0 as "back-end" linked to Access via ODBC as "front-end".
Connection
by DevX Pro
I have a small SQL Server 6.5 database running on NT Workstation. From my workstation I can ping that machine and I can map a drive to that machine. However, every time I try to connect through SQL Server I get a network error stating that the SQL database does not connect or there is a general network failure. What is wrong? (I was able to connect briefly at one time, but no more.)

Double quotes in queries
by DevX Pro
OK, suppose you need to include in a query a string which contains both single and double quotes, for example: UPDATE Books SET Title = "Gulliver's Travels" I need to save those double quotes, since this is a title. The formatting function must also deal with strings having either one quote type or the other; or no quotes at all. Is this possible?
Using variable in SQL WHERE clause
by DevX Pro
How can I use the contents of a text box as the WHERE clause in a SQL query? "SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Field = Text1.Text" doesn't work.
