Disabling Binary Logs in MySQL

Logs often come in handy for problem resolution. However, there are times when there are too many logs that are not useful from the developer's perspective.

One such log is the binary log in the MySQL database.

First, convert the file my.cnf in location /etc/my.cnf to unix format in case it is not. This will ensure that the file format is correct. You can use the dos2unix command.

Afterwards, comment the following lines in the my.cnf file"

#binlog-format=row
#sync-binlog=1
#log_bin=/opt/mysql/promise/data/binlog/binary-log

Please note that the above are examples and the values may not necessarily be what you will use.

Do not forget to restart MySQL after this change.
