The AppFog platform as a service started out saying developers who used the service would be able to run their applications on nearly any cloud computing infrastructure, but not the company is taking a step back from that promise. As of May 2, AppFog will drop support for Rackspace, meaning that it will only support Amazon Web Services and HP’s cloud. The PaaS also allows for deployment on private clouds.
According to AppFog CEO Lucas Carlson, the company made the decision because “it’s also become increasingly resource-intensive to maintain so many instances of our infrastructure.”
