A new report from Forrester Research forecasts that 100 percent of large enterprises will eventually adopt Hadoop for their big data processing needs. However, the firm’s analysts say that businesses are currently not using between 60 and 73 percent of their data for business intelligence and analytics. “That’s unacceptable in an age where deeper, actionable insights, especially about customers, are a competitive necessity,” analysts Mike Gualtieri and Noel Yuhanna wrote.
As far as vendors go, Forrester says there isn’t a clear winner. However, it places Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR, IBM and Pivotal in the top tier.
In related news, a survey conducted by Syncsort found that 67 percent of IT decision makers are interested in Apache Spark, making it the tool from the Hadoop ecosystem with the most interest.
