Following through on its promises to open source much of its .NET development platform, Microsoft has added more elements to the GitHub release of .NET Core. "We got the initial framework out there, and people were asking when are the lower- level runtime features going to show up," explained Microsoft's Jay Schmelzer. The latest update adds the .NET garbage collector, the Just-In-Time compiler and the execution engine.
In related news, Microsoft also announced that it will hold a virtual .NET development conference called dotnetConf 2015 March 18 and 19.
