Microsoft has taken the wraps off the second release candidate for .NET Core version 2, and it includes many new APIs and other tools. .NET Core inclues a compiler, library and other components that allow developers to build cross-platform applications using Windows development tools. The latest version includes a new telemetry feature and the dotnet tool, which has more than 1,000 new APIs, runtime improvements, support for portable apps, improved support for IIS, the new .NET command line interface and more.
“This release succeeds the ASP.NET 5 RC1 release and features a number of updates to enhance compatibility with other .NET frameworks and an improved runtime,” blogged Jeffrey Fritz, a program manager for Microsoft.
