SAP Announces HANA-Based Cloud Development Platform

SAP Announces HANA-Based Cloud Development Platform

At the Tech Ed event in Las Vegas, SAP revealed its plans to create a cloud development platform that will rely on its HANA in-memory database. So far, only one element of the full platform– NetWeaver Cloud–is currently available to developers. NetWeaver Cloud is a free Java-based service for building and deploying extensions for SAP software. In the future, the company plans to add the HANA-powered database layer. “We believe the future is a RAM-optimized cloud,” said SAP’s Vishal Sikka. “Every successful technology ever seeks to connect us in real time.”

SAP also announced that HANA is available through Amazon Web Services, and in the future the company will release a HANA stack for use in private cloud computing environments.
