Visual Studio 2015 Update 2 Boasts Faster C/C++ Performance

Microsoft has a new release candidate for Visual Studio 2015 Update 2. The most noteworthy improvement in the release is better performance for C and C++. “Extracting floating point numbers with iostreams is up to nineteen times faster,” blogged John Montgomery, Microsoft director of program management for Visual Studio. “Certain string operations are also faster, especially std::string::replace when replacing same-sized substrings.”

Other improvements in the release include a better C# and Visual Basic Analyzer API, improved integration with Git and numerous bug fixes.

At the same time, Microsoft also issued a release candidate for Team Foundation Server 2015 Update 2.
