Google Reorganizes Its Cloud Computing Offerings

Google is re-branding all of its cloud computing offerings under the name “Google Cloud.” In addition, it has a new name for Google Apps for Work: G Suite. The G Suite includes consumer-facing apps like Google Drive, Docs, Gmail, Calendar and Hangouts, and the company also announced new analytics and enterprise collaboration features for the suite.

Google Cloud also includes the company’s cloud development platform and services, such as its machine learning tools and APIs. “Google Cloud spans every layer (of connectivity),” Senior Vice President Diane Greene said. “All of this was built for the cloud from the get-go. Moreover, Google Cloud has been engineered in an enterprise appropriate way, with integrated systems that include guarantees at the service level—all components integrated and meeting the SLA (service-level agreement) for whatever price point the customer chooses.”
