Alphabet Quarterly Report Shows Strong Growth for Google Cloud

Google parent company Alphabet released surprisingly strong financial results for the third quarter. Cloud computing and the Google Play store contributed significantly to the company’s bottom line, generating $2.3 billion in revenue. That was more than 10 percent of the company’s total $22.3 billion in sales.

“Google Cloud is generating substantial revenue growth, reflecting the ongoing momentum in the business as well as the enormous opportunity in this area,” said Alphabet Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said the company remains committed to building “the most open cloud for all businesses and mak[ing] it easy for them to build and run great software.”
