Apple frequently offers its developers an early look at upcoming versions of iOS, and now, for the first time ever, Google is doing the same thing with Android. Mobile development firms can now download Android L if they have a compatible device. The company announced the update during the I/O developer conference and plans to release it officially this fall. It features a number of new capabilities, including material design, enhanced notifications, Project Volta, ART, 64- bit support and more.
At the same time, Google announced that it would release version 5.0 of Google Play Services. The new APIs are currently being rolled out to developers.
