IBM Adds Location, Synchronization Modules to MobileFirst

IBM is expanding its MobileFirst enterprise mobile development platform with two new modules. The first module, called Presence Insights, allows organizations to track users’ movements within a building. It’s helpful for retailers interested in tracking traffic patterns within their stores, as well as for concert and sports venues that want to direct attendees to vendors with the shortest lines.

The second module, called Cloudant Data Layer, synchronizes the information on mobile devices and back-end systems. “You get tons of interesting analytics” with the module, explained Mike Gilfix, vice president of IBM’s MobileFirst platform.

Both modules will be available by the end of April.
