MapR Unveils a Kafka Alternative Called Streams

Hadoop vendor MapR has launched a new publish-subscribe messaging system called Streams, which it says is a lot like the open source tool Apache Kafka. MapR also recently announced that its third-quarter sales had increased 160 percent year-over-year. The company currently has 350 employees, and CEO John Schroeder said he expects to double the sales force next year.
