In the past, Microsoft hasn’t always been a Java supporter, but now it is promoting Java as a way to build cross-platform mobile apps. Microsoft Open Technology has posted a new blog post supporting JUniversal, a free Microsoft tool that allows developers to write Android apps in Java as usual, and then port those apps for iOS, Windows or Windows Phone. According to the company, JUniversal produces code ?that looks much like how a human would write it? with appropriate comments and formatting.
Microsoft says that JUniversal still has some “rough edges” and developers will still need to write code for the UI using native languages. However, the firm says the tool is stable enough for production use in most cases.
