Salesforce Unveils Lightning Mobile Development Platform

During its Dreamforce conference, Salesforce.com launched Lightning, an update for its Salesforce1 cloud development platform. Lightning aims to put mobile development within the reach of business users as well as developers. And, as the name suggests, it enables very fast app creation and updates.

“We believe there’s a continuum between end-user app development or customization and developer-centric app development,” said Mike Rosenbaum, a Salesforce executive vice president. “We’ve built something that works for both groups. When the developers need to come in and customize or do something with a more complex workflow, they’re doing it on top of that same application the end-user has created.”
