Study Maps the Impact of the App Economy

CTIA and he Application Developer?s Alliance have published a new report called ?The Geography of the App Economy,? that seeks to quantify the impact that mobile development has on the economy. It found that the economic impact varies considerably by state. For example, apps add $8.2 billion annually to the economy of California, which sees the biggest gains from mobile development. By contrast, apps add about $429 million to the economy of Colorado, which is fifteenth on the list. The top five states were California, Washington, New York, Texas and Massachusetts.

The report also found that the app economy has generated 519,000 new jobs since the iPhone was first released.
